Donkey Kong Bananza is a brand new 3D platformer releasing today exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. With DK, you'll enjoy bashing, catching, throwing, climbing, and smashing! Together with his friend Pauline, he will explore the depths of this action-packed adventure.
Donkey Kong Bananza begins on Ingot Isle, where a discovery of the century has just been made in the local cave depths in the form of golden bananas. However, just before DK can indulge in this golden treat, a storm sends him deep underground. There, in Odd Rock, he meets a new mysterious ally, who is not a rock at all, as the name might suggest. It is a young talented singer, Pauline. Together, they embark on a journey through the vast underground world, heading towards the Planet Core, which legend says has the power to grant your heart's desire.
Void Company is a villainous mining company whose operations reach into all layers of the planet. They also have their sights set on the Planet Core. VoidCo is not only responsible for the banana-stealing maelstrom that sent Donkey Kong underground but also for transforming Pauline into Odd Rock.
As Donkey Kong, you'll use powerful abilities to break through obstacles and enemies and discover various secrets. These abilities can be combined to achieve maximum chaos. Pauline can also enhance DK's destructive abilities with the power of her singing, temporarily transforming him into new animal forms. Collecting gold accumulates Bananergy, which allows Pauline's singing to activate transformations. These include Kong Bananza, making Donkey Kong super strong, Zebra Bananza, which speeds him up and allows him to sprint short distances, and Ostrich Bananza, enabling DK to fly and drop egg bombs on enemies.
Golden bananas called Banandium Gems are buried behind walls, underground, and sometimes even in the open air. Collecting these Banandium Gems provides skill points that increase DK's strength and even allow him to learn new skills. There are many more collectibles to find! Including fossils that can be taken to shops and exchanged for various fashion accessories for Donkey Kong and Pauline, as well as fur colors for DK. Almost all fashion accessories offer some useful additional benefits.
Donkey Kong Bananza can be played solo or in co-op with a partner.*1 Pauline's voice can be amplified with the mouse function through Joy-Con 2 controllers. Players can use GameShare*2 to share the game and try local co-op with another player even if the second player doesn't own the game. In addition to local sharing on the Nintendo Switch 2 console, the game can also be shared locally on the Nintendo Switch console. Finally, you can invite friends online via GameChat*3 and join the game through voice/video chat.
Donkey Kong Bananza supports amiibo. Amiibo figures with Donkey Kong and Pauline are on sale from July 17 and will allow early unlocking of the Diva Dress for Pauline and also grant players a KONG tile with explosive power.
