The ancient tale of the demon king Ganondorf's invasion is coming to life in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, which is being released to players on the Nintendo Switch 2 console today.

In Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, you step into the shoes of the heroic Princess Zelda just as the so-called Imprisoning War rages in Hyrule, an event that could change the region for a long time to come. This untold story from the deep past will lead up to the events of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and allow players to discover the canonical events that have only been hinted at until now.

However, Princess Zelda is not alone in this war. Familiar faces like King Rauru and the legendary Sages will fight alongside her against Ganondorf's forces. Some new warriors will also join the fight against this demon king, such as the tempestuous Korok Calamo.

Players will master the unique combat style of each hero in battles against hordes of enemies. They can also team up with other warriors to create so-called Sync Strikes, which can turn the tide of battle. Zonai devices – utilizing water, wind, and other effects – can also play a role, capable of changing the course of the fight and gaining a decisive advantage when deployed strategically. By utilizing their full arsenal, players unleash devastating combo attacks, overwhelm legions of enemies, and defeat powerful bosses.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment supports local two-player co-op, where players join forces in split-screen on a single console to defend Hyrule together. In the case of two different consoles, only one of them needs to own the game, who then utilizes the GameShare function1.

Kingdom, can look forward to the High Guard’s Sword – both can be obtained after completing the Howling Tempests mission.

*1 The Nintendo Switch 2 console must initiate GameShare. Users who receive the game via GameShare can only play it for the duration of that session. Sharing the game will not be possible after the session ends.
