Nintendo celebrated MAR10 Day with games, news about the movie, and more about Mario

As part of this year's MAR10 Day celebrations, a new video released by Nintendo made several new announcements. The first two relate to the release dates of the Mario and his friends titles, and players will also be pleased with the launch of three Mario games on Nintendo Switch. And fans of Super Mario Bros. in the movie are now guaranteed to see a new animated movie based on the game series. 

Get ready to relive memories of Game Boy classics, more adventures with paper Mario, and more well-deserved attention for Luigi. MAR10 Day had more than enough to offer:

• Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door is just around the corner! On May 23, Mario and his indomitable sidekicks venture into the paper world to unlock the mysterious Thousand-Year Door. This witty and whimsical RPG will be released on Nintendo Switch 20 years after its original release on the GameCube. The new version will offer improved graphics, soundtrack and new gameplay options.
• Luigi's Mansion 2 HD opens its doors: Help Luigi retrieve the lost Dark Moon shards spread across several different haunted mansions, each offering its own puzzles to solve and ghosts to capture. From June 27, when the game is released, you can try the power of Poltergust 5000, with which vacuuming ghosts will be a joy. Don't forget to sneak around every corner of these haunted mansions with him! This title – originally released on the Nintendo 3DS console – will also arrive in an enhanced form on Nintendo Switch.
• Three classic Game Boy Mario games to join Nintendo Switch Online: Starting today, Nintendo Switch Online offers three of the following Game Boy games: Dr. Mario (Game Boy), Mario Golf (Game Boy Color) and Mario Tennis (Game Boy Color).*
• New animated film based on Super Mario Bros. in film: Surprisingly, Shigeru Miyamoto also appeared in the video, announcing that Nintendo is working with Illumination to prepare a new animated film based on the Super Mario Bros. in film. It is scheduled to premiere on April 3, 2026.
