11. 6. 2025, Nintendo, Press Release

Nintendo Switch 2 became the fastest-selling Nintendo hardware four days after its launch on Thursday, June 5, selling more than 3 and a half million units.*1

Nintendo Switch 2 offers a larger, more vibrant display supporting 1080p resolution (and 4K when connected to a compatible TV or monitor), a faster processor for enhanced graphics and better game performance, and redesigned magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers that can be used as a mouse. The console also supports the GameChat*2 feature, allowing players to (video) chat and share their gameplay footage with friends and online, bringing the feeling of playing together into your living room even when your friends are miles away.

Nintendo Switch 2 represents the next evolution of Nintendo Switch, and we are incredibly happy and grateful to see the response from players across Europe,” says Luciano Pereña, CEO and President of Nintendo of Europe. “We look forward to seeing players connect through games like Mario Kart World, sharing experiences with their friends and family, no matter how far apart they are.”

Along with the console, the game Mario Kart World was also launched. For the very first time, players encounter an open world where you can drive wherever you want (including cities, plains, deserts, or even the ocean). Mario Kart World offers dynamic weather, new game modes, and races for up to 24 drivers – the most in history.

And next month, Donkey Kong Bananza will arrive with its new 3D platformer, releasing exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2. Donkey Kong Bananza will let players unleash their inner Kong as they smash everything around them in this new adventure. The release date is scheduled for July 17.
