We invite players to relax and customize their personal paradise in entirely new ways in Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, which is available from today for Nintendo Switch 2 along with a free update for all Animal Crossing: New Horizons players.
In Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, players can build their dream island paradise, enjoy sunsets on the beach, run around the island catching bugs, and much more, all in enhanced resolution*1. Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also supports pointer controls using Joy-Con 2, making it easier to decorate interiors, create Custom Designs, and write messages on the bulletin board. A new Megaphone item has also been added, allowing you to call island residents using the console's built-in microphone.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition also brings expanded online features. If everyone has Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, up to 12 players can enjoy island life together in online*2 mode with GameChat*3 support, while up to 8 players can connect via local play. After connecting a compatible USB camera, such as the Nintendo Switch 2 camera, up to four players can see their reactions directly in the game thanks to the CameraPlay feature.
Players who already own Animal Crossing: New Horizons for Nintendo Switch can purchase the Upgrade Pack*4 and enjoy all the enhancements that Nintendo Switch 2 Edition brings.
On the same day that Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launches, a free update*5 is also available for all Animal Crossing: New Horizons players on Nintendo Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch. The update brings several new features, including the ability to explore a new resort hotel operated by Kapp'n's family. Players can design themed rooms, offer clothing to arriving tourists, craft and deliver DIY island items, and earn tickets that can be exchanged for exclusive collectible items at the souvenir shop. Players with Nintendo Switch Online membership can also invite their friends to Slumber Islands, a shared dream world that they can customize together according to their own imagination. The update also includes Resetti's Reset Service, which allows you to quickly and easily clean up and organize your island.
New collaborations are also available with the update. Players can collect Nintendo consoles in the game to give their island home a retro touch, and Nintendo Switch Online members can also play some classic Nintendo titles when interacting with selected Nintendo consoles in the game. LEGO® items appear for the first time in this update, and players can also scan selected amiibo*6 from The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon series to invite new characters to their island and unlock various items inspired by these series.
